Memphis - Getting To & From the City

Airports:

Memphis International Airport is the global "SuperHub" of FedExpress. This is also the largest airline in the world with right to freight tons flown and has the largest ever cargo operations as per volume compared to other airports in the world. This airport is also the secondary hub of delta air Lines which was used by around 10 million passengers in 2009. The Delta Air Lines operates in a routine manner with around 220 flights from the airport. Other airlines in and around this city are the AirTran, United Airlines and many other airlines. Some of the general aviation airports include the Millington Regional Jetport.

Public Transportation:

Other than the airports, commuters can commute on other mode of transportation too. This includes the highways like Interstate 40, 55 and 2240 which are the major expressways used by the commuters in the city. Other significant federal highways include the US Routes of 70, 64 and 72.

There are also the railroads which travelers can opt for to see some of the attractions in the city of Memphis. By the early 20th century, the city had some main passenger railroad stations, like the Memphis Central Station which was renovated and is still serving the city. The only inter-city passenger railroad service to this city for many years was the daily wise train, City of New Orleans which is operated by Amtrak. Many can commute through the river ports of this city for which the city is also famous for. The city has the second busiest cargo port on the Mississippi River and is also the fourth busiest inland port in the United States.

Bridges are also known for four railroad and highway bridges like the Frisco Bridge, the Harahan Bridge and the Hernando de Soto Bridge. Other mode of transportation includes buses and cars which are available in rental basis.
